Allies want Roxas to run for president or nothing
ROXAS CITY – “Take it or leave it as all systems go for Sen. Mar Roxas to run for president in the year 2010 national and local polls,” political allies of the senator said.
“Mar Roxas shall run for president or nothing,” Provincial Administrator Zoe Herera told The News Today (TNT) in reaction to hearsays that Mar Roxas will settle down as vice president or seek re-election as senator if his low ratings will persist until May this year.
“Why do these issues continue? Are they afraid of Sen. Mar Roxas to run for president?” Herrera asked.
Earlier, political analysts from both Villar and Roxas camp revealed that the senator might settle down for vice president with Manny Villar or seek re-election as senator if his low ratings from the survey would remain
Latest survey conducted by SWS revealed that Sen. Mar Roxas is far behind among the presidentiables.
Herera said that Mar Roxas has many good plans for the country which he will not accomplish if he is vice president only.
Board Member Alfonso “Bo” Bediones, one of the political allies of the senator, told TNT that Mar Roxas will definitely run for president.
“All advocacies of Sen. Mar Roxas were already seen and heard on TV, radio, streamers and newspapers starting this month and after this, the people can discern who is the best among the presidentiables,” Bediones said.
He said that Sen. Mar Roxas has a track record as Mr. Information Technology (IT), cheaper medicine, which benefited the people.
He added that the senator has no issues of corruption that he could be called as Mr. Clean.
According to Bediones, the political strategy of Sen. Mar would still be the same as in 2004 elections wherein he was far behind the surveys but he gradually garnered the number 1 spot in the senatorial bid. He acquired some 20 million votes that broke the records as far as the senatorial results are concerned.
Asked why Mar Roxas did not get his P200 million CDF, Bediones said that the senator proposed and processed his pork barrel into projects but were not granted by the executive “that’s why he didn’t insist to get it.”
In the internet, the senator was blamed by some quarters for not getting his pork barrel that could have benefited his constituents in form of projects.
