Suspects ‘hotel guests,’ not intruders, hotel lawyer says
‘Guests’ and not intruders are responsible in yesterday’s grisly killing inside one of the city’s hotels.
With no forcible entry made, the clarification was made by lawyer Plaridel Nava, counsel of Eon Centennial Plaza Hotel, while stressing that the incident was “an isolated case.”
Nava made the statement to dispute speculations and allay concerns that an intruder or intruders could have gone passed hotel security.
Management has since maintained strict security within hotel premises, Nava told reporters with visiting hours limited up to 10 pm only. And safety of hotel guests are of primary concern and priority as well, he stressed.
Meantime, with police investigation widened and manhunt on the suspects ordered, Eon Centennial Plaza Hotel said it is business as usual. Such, as full cooperation has been assured to hasten investigation of local authorities.
It was learned that the culprits behind the fatal stabbing of hotel guest Epi Ramos were the same guests seen with the victim the previous night.
Alongside the case of murder, robbery as added motive was entertained with inventory made by authorities in the presence of hotel representatives.
The News Today (TNT) learned that authorities granted access to the crime scene saw personal belongings of the victim scattered all over the room.
Radio reports also said that Ramos withdrew an undisclosed amount prior to the incident.
“A painful day for the hotel,” Nava said over Bombo Radyo Iloilo particularly with the hotel just celebrating Chinese New Year.
