City gov’t acquires heavy equipment
ROXAS CITY – Five newly-acquired heavy equipment of the city government under the leadership of Mayor Vicente Bermejo were blessed yesterday in front of the city hall.
Bermejo told The News Today (TNT) that the five heavy equipment will be used for the road maintenance, road construction, concreting and constructions of projects by the city government.
According to him, the funds in the amount of P18 million was sourced from the Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) collectible by the city government from the national government. He said that an additional P1 million was added by the city council for the heavy equipment in the total amount of P19 million.
Newly acquired heavy equipment were: grader –MG 430 model, vibrator compactor (pison) volve brand, welding generator, compressor with jack hammer and breaker.
“This will not affect the city government financially because the equipment will be paid by the national government through IRA payable to the city government,” Bermejo said.
He said that the said equipment will be amortized in 7 years by the national government.
Bermejo added that the city government will also purchase a backhoe which will be used for the development of the city.
He also disclosed that the city government will pave six kilometers of roads within the city this year and will then pave at least 2 kilometers every year.
