142 Capiz cops promoted
ROXAS CITY – Some 142 members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Capiz benefited from the agency's regular promotion program for 2008.
In a report from the Capiz Provincial Office of the PNP, two police chief inspectors were promoted to the rank of superintendent, another two police inspectors were promoted to senior inspector and one senior police officer 4 was promoted to police inspector rank.
The five promotees in Capiz were among the 1,232 police commissioned officers (PCOs) who were recently promoted to the next higher ranks.
Promoted to the next higher rank from Capiz were 57 police officer 1, 49 police officer 2, 15 police officer 3, one senior police officer 1, 10 senior police officer 2 and 5 senior police officer 3.
Recently, a total of 16,051 PNP personnel in the country were promoted to the next higher rank, 1,232 of whom were PCOs and the remaining 14,891 were non-commissioned officers (NPCOs)
In his speech during the Oath Taking ceremony during the Pinning of Ranks and Oath Taking Ceremony, PNP Director General Jesus Verzosa said that the big number of promotions only translates to an increased "professional aptitude and proficiency" in the police force.
Verzosa reminded the police of their utmost responsibility to serve and protect with an opportunity to touch people's lives and influence the public to be better citizens.
On the other hand, PNP Spokesman Nicanor Bartolome said that a total of 28,794 promotional vacancies were available for filling up and the promotion of police personnel to the next higher rank is part of the Regular Promotion Program in 2008. (PIA/Jemin B. Guillermo)
