LGU San Jose soaring high as First Class Municipality
SAN JOSE, Antique – Antique’s capital town, San Jose de Buenvista is soaring high as First Class Municipality by virtue of Memorandum Circular No. 01-M(6)-08 of the Department of Finance, said Ofelia B. Miciano Information Officer.
True to its mission of “Economically Progressive and Ecologically Balanced Urban Community Responsively Governed in partnership with the Civil Society and Adequately Responding to People Needs and Aspirations,” Mayor Rony Molina has strengthened approaches and innovative interventions to provide quality services to the constituents that made them won the Regional Award as Best in Administrative Governance in Western Visayas during the search conducted by the Department of Interior and Local Government.
Hon. Molina has also taken the initiative of tapping the national government agencies to provide facilities for better delivery of services in the municipality including the Office of Congressman Exequiel Javier of the Lone District of Antique that made the untiring follow-up of request to concerned agencies in the central office.
Recently, the Municipal Police Station has availed of brand new Toyota-Innova Patrol Car from the PNP National Office to help boost the local PNP’s mission to serve and protect the people by improving police mobility and visibility in the areas of responsibility, said Miciano.
In addition, the San Jose PNP station was adjudged First Runner Up in the search for “Best of Best Municipal Police Station” in the entire country. The remarkable leadership of Police Senior Inspector Gilbert T. Gorero, Chief of Police and other police officers and the support of the local leadership and community made the PNP more responsive in maintaining peace and order.
Furthermore, the Municipal Health Office headed by Dr. Melba Billiones has also availed of Toyota-Hi Ace Ambulance from the Office of Senator Miguel Zubiri with counterpart from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office and the Municipal Government. “The ambulance will be of great help in times of emergencies and in reaching far flung barangays to deliver health services to the people,” said Dr. Billiones.
Billiones also said that the Rural Health Unit of San Jose is catering to the health needs of 56,943 population from the 28 barangays of the town. She further encouraged the people to practice healthy lifestyle to maintain healthy body since the health data of the town showed that the top 5 causes of mortality and morbidity are lifestyle diseases like diabetes, cancer among others.
Mayor Molina in his endeavor to make San Jose achieve greater heights said that the local government should be aggressive to cope with the needs of the people and various demands of urbanization. “New and viable interventions must be infused to keep up with being named the Best in Region in terms of Administrative Governance,” said Molina.
