Career orientation for new graduates
The Bacolod City government through the Public Employment Services Office (PESO) in cooperation with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA) will hold a career orientation on March 3 and 4, 2009, 9:00 AM to 12 Noon and 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Robinsons Place Bacolod.
The objective of the orientation is to assist more than 8,000 students who are graduating this year from 22 public high schools in Bacolod City. Parents of the students are enjoined to participate in the said activity.
PESO Manager Moises De la Cruz said that parents play a very important in deciding
what courses their children should take in college.
Members of various academe and professional associations will speak on the different job trends including the labor supply and demand.
“To answer the supply and demand on employment, this (orientation) will also help students make the right choice of profession,” said De la Cruz.
De la Cruz further said that the orientation will help lessen the gap - the mismatch of the labor supply to demand.
