Leonardia receives Best City Peace and Order Council award
BACOLOD CITY -- Mayor Evelio Leonardia received the 3rd Best City Peace and Order Council award in behalf of Bacolod City in ceremonies held recently at Malacañang Palace and given by no less than President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
Leonardia, together with Department of Interior and Local Government director Victorio Pagapulan and Bacolod Police director Ronilo Quebrar, also received the 2008 Community Service Award.
Bacolod City’s Peace and Order Council, under the administration of Mayor Leonardia, has been a consistent awardee in the last five years and had always been ranked as among the top five in the country.
The city’s peace and order council ranked third under the highly urbanized city category for 2006 and has been cited as such on the bases of its exemplary achievements as a prime mover in the formulation, implementation and orchestration of programs, projects and activities for the enhancement of law and order and public safety, including the effective and integrated coordination of the five pillars of the Criminal Justice System at the local administrative level of government, which accomplishments are highly indicative of its continuous and unwavering commitment in the pursuit of lasting peace and development in its area of jurisdiction.
