Reorg of Capiz PPOC underway
ROXAS CITY – In line with Executive Order 773 of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, the province of Capiz is set to reorganize the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC).
Provincial Administrator Zoe Herrera said that the reorganization of said Council aims to significantly contribute to the national efforts in achieving lasting peace in the countryside, particularly in rural areas.
He explained that the achievement of peace and order in the community would bring about livelihood and infrastructure development programs and projects by the government especially in remote areas.
Herrera said that with a strong and functional PPOC, efforts by the government, non-government organization and other private sectors, including the church could be put together to attain peace and progress in the entire province here.
He added that Governor Victor Tanco is set to sign an Executive Order to effect the reorganization of the said council this month.
Activities for the PPOC reorganizational meeting and workshop sometime in the first week of March are also being lined up.
Earlier, Interior and Local Government Secretary Ronaldo Puno has called on all local chief executives in the country for the reorganization and functionality of their respective POCs from the provincial to the barangay levels.
Puno said that the move is in step with the government's effort in the campaign against criminality and insurgency as well as ensure public safety.
Meanwhile, DILG Provincial Director Helen Mestidio said that to ensure the functionality of the POC in Capiz, there is a need to make an Integrated Area Community Public Safety Plan to bring together the various plan of action by various members in the effort to bring about peace and order here.
