No malice in plan to leave post, says City Assessor
BACOLOD CITY -- City Assessor Atty. Maphilindo Polvora confirmed recently that he will formally leave his present position because he wants to go back to Kabankalan City as Assistant City Legal Officer.
This confirmation came in the wake of allegations that the City Assessor will tender his resignation because of the pressing controversy with regard to the acquisition of Felisa Dumpsite.
"I want to clear that my purpose from leaving Bacolod is to serve the people of Kabankalan since I am the lawyer of the Zayco family and they asked my services to be a member of Negotiating Committee for the construction of Kabankalan Airport," Polvora said.
His resignation would be effective March 1, 2009.
He explained that he will still serve Mayor Leonardia even if he is no longer the City Assessor. Polvora thanked the Local Chief Executive for the trust and confidence given him as City Assessor of Bacolod for almost ten months.
Polvora was asked last year by Mayor Leonardia to work as City Assessor in lieu of City Treasurer Annabelle Badajos who was designated as Officer in Charge of the City Assessment Office.
Polvora said that even if he no longer the City Assessor of Bacolod he will continue defending himself in the case filed by Sarah Esguerra for the controversial acquisition of Felisa Dumpsite worth P23,000,000.
Polvora admitted during a press conference that the political climate in Bacolod City is worse compared to some other Local Government Unit.
He likewise maintained that the land valuation for Felisa Dumpsite is very low compared to Kabankalan City and some other Local Government Units. Polvora also said that he has nothing personal with the administration because he is very supportive of Mayor Leonardia.
He defended that the P340 per square meter assessment of Felisa Dumpsite is reasonable.
