City invites more bidders for Northbound Terminal
The City Government of Bacolod invites more bidders for the establishment of the Northbound Terminal of Bacolod City, said Councilor Wilson Gamboa, Jr., Sangguniang Panglungsod Committee Chair on Transportation.
He said that interested parties can submit their letter of intent the soonest time possible while the project proposal can be sent until March 15, 2009.
The establishment of this Northbound Terminal is covered by City Ordinance No. 461 dated March 28, 2008.
In the said ordinance, the city has considered the need for a new northbound terminal considering that it the present northbound terminal is no longer sufficient to serve its purpose due to increasing number of commuting public.
Study shows that the traffic congestion in Bacolod City is primarily caused by the lack of proper terminal to cater to the needs of public utility vehicles in the area.
A new terminal of all public utility vehicles is seen to be one of the immediate solution for the recurring problem of traffic congestion.
The City of Bacolod is authorized to enter into a contract with any private entity.
Gamboa said that there were two interested bidders namely Vallacar Transit and Amity.
But the Vallacar has already purchased a property near the location of the Northbound terminal and could no longer pursue their intent to participate in the bidding.
He said Vallacar can operate independently.
