Jobs for unemployed nurses
The Department of Labor and Employment Region 6 will accept application of unemployed registered nurses for employment under the Nurses Assigned in Rural Service (NARS) program effective Monday, February 23.
NARS program is a training-cum employment scheme wherein the hired nurse-trainees will be trained not only in providing basic health services to needy folks in rural areas but also in performing clinical functions under the guidance of participating hospital and other medical facilities in areas where the nurse-trainees will be assigned.
This program is jointly implemented by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the Department of Health (DOH) and the Board of Nursing, Professional Regulation Commission (BON-PRC).
Labor 6 Director Aida M. Estabillo said the hired nurses will be deployed in some of the poorest municipalities in the region for a six-month tour of duty as warriors of wellness in their hometown. They will also serve as roving nurses for rural schools, she added.
Estabillo said the DOH would identify the hospitals and other health facilities that would participate in the NARS program and at the same time formulate the program’s training module and related learning and development activities in close coordination with the PRC-BON.
She added that the nurse-trainees will be jointly issued the Certificate of Completion by the DOLE, DOH, PRC-BON and given Php8,000 monthly stipend/allowance while on training.
Unemployed registered nurses who are physically and mentally fit and willing to serve in their hometown and who meet the following requirements may quality for the training cum employment under the NARS: a) with valid nurse license issued by the PRC b) not over 35 years old c) resident of the identified municipalities d) no nursing-related experience for 1-3 years.
Qualified applicants in Iloilo & Guimaras may submit their application to DOLE Iloilo-Guimaras Provincial Office, Swan-Rose Bldg., Commission Civil St., Jaro, Iloilo City while those in other provinces may submit their application to DOLE Provincial Offices in their area or online at http//www.nars.dole.gov.ph from February 23 to March 31, 2009
Nurse applicants who are children of workers affected by the global slowdown will be given priority in the selection, Estabillo said.
