Top NPA rebels arrested in Bacolod City
Two high-ranking New People's Army (NPA) rebels were apprehended by combined operatives of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) Intelligence Branch/Special Operations Group (SOG) and the 303rd Brigade of the Philippine Army led by Police Superintendent Rosauro Francisco Jr. last Thursday in Barangay Bata, Bacolod City.
The operation was realized in coordination with the Bacolod City Police Office's Police Precint 3 under Police Chief Inspector Leonardo Borromeo that led to the capture of Rogelio Danoso a.k.a. Haron/Ka Gildo, allegedly the secretary of the Northern Negros Front Commitee, KR-N by virtue of an arrest warrant for arson.
Police Chief Inspector Rico Santotome Jr, NOPPO Spokesman, said that Danoso is believed to be one of those responsible for the burning of a transloading facility in Toboso town last year and was nabbed by virtue of an arrest warrant in criminal case number RTC-4201 issued by Judge Katherine Go of RTC Branch 59 in San Carlos City for violation of Presidential Decree 1613 (Arson).
During his arrest at Circumferential Road at Bangga Pepsi, police operatives recovered from the actual possession of Ka Gildo, a native of Sitio Aglolomot, Barangay San Jose in Toboso, one fragmentation grenade while his companion identified as Roberto Espinosa aka Ka Berto/Demar, squad leader of Squad 1, Pltn 1, KLNN, KR-N and resident of Villa Miranda, Barangay 6A, Victorias City was likewise arrested for possessing one caliber .45 pistol with serial number 817514 and one magazine assembly loaded with seven live ammunitions without pertinent papers for him to possess said firearm.
Additional information from the Philippine Army revealed that Ka Gildo was responsible for majority of notable terroristic activities in the province such as the burningtrasloading equipments, tractors and vehicles owned by the Lopez Sugar Milling Company and Victorias Milling Company in Toboso, the burning of two Tanduay delivery trucks and sabotage of Globe Cellsite allin Escalante Cityas well as the liquidation of numerous PNP/AFP/CAA personnel and civilians deemed informants of the military.
Danoso reportedly transferred to KR-N from CVRPC in 2004 and became a member the Regional Operation Command working as an intelligence officer in Western Visayas.In 2006, he became KR-N's secretary of the North Negros Front prior to his arrest last February 19.
Said suspects were properly booked at PP3-BCPO and are undergoing tactical interrogation at NOPPO Headquarters in Camingawan while a case for Violation of Republic Act 8294 (Illegal Possession of Firearms, Ammunitions and Explosives) is being readied against the two arrested CPP-NPA officers.
Police Senior Superintendent Manuel Felix, NOPPO provincial director, commended the arresting team led by PSupt Francisco for their laudable accomplishments in neutralizing the said suspects in line with the action plan TEAM NEGROS of NOPPO specifically in giving peace a chance in the province.
