Cuevas orders probe on 'drinking' cops
The Police Regional Office 6 has ordered the investigation of six police officers caught drinking inside a police station in Negros Occidental recently.
Police regional director, Chief Supt. Isagani Cuevas told The News Today yesterday that he has directed Negros Occidental provincial police director, Sr. Supt. Manuel Felix to look into the conduct of the six police officers caught drinking inside the Ilog police station during a surprise inspection.
Felix will be conducting the pre-charge evaluation and investigation, and if warranted, initiate summary dismissal proceedings against the erring police officers, the regional director said.
Reports identified the six police officers to be Senior Police Officer 1 Ramon Macaya, Police Officer 3 Noel Joquino, Police Officer 2 Edward Gayuma, and Police Officers 1 Joseph Caballero, Gecel de la Cruz and Jonjer Yap.
Cuevas said that drinking liquor inside a police station while on duty constitutes a violation of the rules on internal discipline.
If found guilty of having violated the PNP's rules on internal discipline, the six could either be suspended or dismissed from the service, Cuevas said.
He reiterated his policy that police in Western Visayas must adhere strictly to the rules and regulations of the organization.
I will not tolerate this kind of conduct, he said, this must be dealt with otherwise it would be giving a bad example.
