TNT apologizes for data mix up
This is to apologize to the family of World War II veteran Jeremias Fufugal Faeldonea, one of the subjects of the undersigned writer's story (Front page banner story February 25, 2009 entitled “AFTER THE LONG WAIT: 'Band of brothers' troop Capitol for Uncle Sam's aid).
As per international phone call yesterday of Private Faeldonea's granddaughter Rachel fom New York, USA, clarifications were made on particular references on said story.
Ms. Rachel said that contrary to what was written in the report, her grandmother Dominga is still living. She also said that her grandfather's veteran pension is not used to help his grandchildren but to spend for his medication and hospitalization. She likewise corrected that they are 18 grandchildren and not 14. Further still, Ms. Rachel also clarified that Private Faeldonea's money will not go to them, his grandchildren but for a chapel to be built in their hometown and the rest for his medication.
This writer and The News Today apologize for the mix up of data as gathered from a number of the veterans present and interviewed.
Again, my sincerest apologies.
