Alangilan holds solid waste segregation campaign
BACOLOD CITY -- Barangay Alangilan Captain Deggie Tanista spearheaded the information and education campaign on proper solid waste management among four puroks over the weekend.
At least 150 residents attended the meeting held at the barangay gymnasium.
City Environment Officer Max Sillo and Executive Assistant Butch Soliguen informed the attendees of the importance of proper solid waste segregation and the barangay's duties in enforcing Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act.
Both speakers also emphasized that waste segregation should start from respective households and that the City Government is set to implement the "no segregation, no collection" policy beginning April 1.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia lauded the effort of the barangay in initiating the solid waste management IEC in their area saying that it only showed that Barangay Alangilan is fully aware of their roles and responsibilities in ensuring the implementation of R.A. 9003.
Leonardia also stressed that the City Government has a pool of trained personnel who can conduct information campaign to any requesting barangays.
