Raul Jr. unfazed by survey on Mabilog's acceptability
For Representative Raul Gonzalez Jr, the political survey employed to test the viability and acceptability of Vice Mayor Jed Mabilog among the Ilonggo electorates in higher elective position is not something new.
Gonzalez said Mabilog has also his own plans in the 2010 elections. “We don’t know his plans but there are people who are spearheading a survey to check his acceptability should he run for the mayoralty race,” he said.
Gonzalez, however, did not categorically say who was behind the survey.
Mabilog was not reached for comment on the issue.
Gonzalez and Mabilog belong to one political party. Earlier, there were reports that Mabilog will run as mayor of the city in 2010 election.
It was learned that there are considerations being entertained by Mabilog about his plan to run for mayor. One is that he will not push through with his plan to run as mayor of the city if Department of Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez Sr. is also interested in the position.
However, if the younger Gonzalez will run as city mayor, Mabilog will challenge the solon in the mayoralty race. The congressman has still one term to for a reelection.
Weeks ago, the DOJ secretary also endorsed Mayor Jerry Treñas to run as representative of the 2nd district of Iloilo, indicating the Senate will approve the proposed creation of new congressional district for the city before the 2010 elections.
