Vacant stalls in public markets up for bidding
BACOLOD CITY -- Sangguniang Panglungsod Member Alex Paglumotan, chair of the Committee on Markets and Slaughterhouse, confirmed yesterday that the Local Market Committee is now undertaking bidding for various vacant stalls situated in Libertad Public Market, Central Market and Burgos Public Market.
Paglumotan said that six stalls are currently subjected to bidding as they were abandoned by the occupants due to health and other valid reasons.
He said that the six stalls subjected to bidding had unpaid rentals and other obligations to the City Treasurer's Office.
Paglumotan said that the Local Market Committee led by City Administrator Dr. Roger Balo decided to undertake a bidding because the arrears or penalties of this stall owners already reach to millions of pesos.
He assured the stall owners that although their stalls were subjected to bidding, yet they are on top priority on the condition that they will comply all the requirements and procedures.
Paglumotan believes that the market is a self-liquidating and self-regulating agency of the city government. He said that the market will be managed efficiently if all of the stall owners will comply with the procedures.
