Gasoline station robbed, cashier killed
ROXAS CITY – A gasoline boy, who also serves as a cashier of a gasoline station, was killed while a security guard was seriously wounded when unidentified suspects robbed a gasoline station in Brgy. Lawaan here early Saturday morning.
Supt. Leo Batiles, Roxas police chief, identified the victim as John Oropeo, 45, of Brgy. Lonoy, this city. He died on the spot due to several injuries he suffered on the different parts of his body.
Wounded were security guard Ranato Perez of Dumalag, Capiz. He is now in critical condition due to fatal injuries on different parts of his body. He was rushed to the Capiz Emmanuel Hospital but later transferred to a hospital in Iloilo City for further medical treatment.
The incident reportedly happened about 5 a.m., an hour after the gasoline station owned by businessman Matty James Viterbo, opened.
Batiles said that the police is still investigating the incident whether the killing was perpetrated by the hold up suspects as they believed that the two victims had also been hit by hard objects.
Batiles said only the security guard could tell what really happened because no witness has come out yet.
A woman who was about to have her money changed found Oropeo and Perez lying on the ground with blood on their bodies and heads.
It was learned that some P13,000 was lost due the said hold up incident.
