Support for Bolante's bid for governor snowballs
ROXAS CITY – Former Governor Jose “Ting” Borda said that the vice governor, nine incumbent municipal mayors in the 2nd district of Capiz and 5 others declared support for former Department of Agriculture (DA) Undersecretary Jocelyn “Jocjoc” Bolante’s bid for governor in 2010 elections.
Borda, who is one of Bolante’s political ally, said that the nine mayors and five others signified their intention to support Bolante in the next election.
Borda said those who pledged support for Bolante are: incumbent Vice Governor Felipe Barredo, Dao Mayor Joselito “Bobo” Escutin, Cuartero Mayor Roger Flores, Dumarao Mayor Leslie Warren “Beboy” Benjamen, Dumalag Mayor Lilia Castro, Tapaz Mayor Rosemarie Gardose, Jamindan Mayor Ethel Jinon, Mambusao Mayor Jose “Joe” Alba, Ivisan Mayor Ipe Yap, and Sapian Mayor Arturo “Turic” Orosco, Sr.
Others are former Sigma Mayor Roberto “Sigbur” Sualog, Incumbent Vice Mayor Victoria Quirao, Former Panay Vice Mayor and now Sanggunian Bayan (SB) Member Edwin Benliro
The former governor added that Panay Mayor Dante Bermejo and Former Pontevedra Mayor Jojie Avelino will likewise go for Bolante’s candidacy.
He also said that some 15 barangay captains with key positions from different barangays also signified their intention to support Bolante but he never named names.
Borda said that several priests will also support Bolante in his candidacy since the latter was a former seminarian.
According to him, all of the above mentioned political allies of Bolante were present during the dinner on February 28 at Villa Patria and they signified their intention to support the former DA Usec's bid for governor of Capiz.
He said that 2nd District Cong. Fredenil Castro has united with Bolante considering that the latter is a native of Dao, Capiz as 2nd district of the province.
