City beefs up police visibility for call center workers
BACOLOD CITY -- Acting City Legal Officer Atty. Vicente Petierre Jr. confirmed yesterday that the city government is on top of the situation relative to initiating the safety and well-being of the call center workers.
This pronouncement was issued by Atty. Petierre after he got the electronic messages yesterday from Teleperformance Bacolod and Convergys that they were appreciative of the additional security measures of the Bacolod City Police Office for the safety of their personnel.
Marife Zamora, Vice President and Country Manager of Convergys, said they appreciate and is grateful to Bacolod City, especially the Mayor's Office, and all Bacolod City officials, for their continued support to their presence in the city.
"Convergys' success as an important business partner with the Bacolod community could not have been achieved without it. We have forged a successful mutually beneficial relationship with the City," Zamora added.
Zamora reiterated that from the beginning, Bacolod City has welcomed them with open arms, working with them to facilitate their presence, planning, construction, hiring and their successful operation. "Convergys notes with great support and appreciation the additional security measures and initiative being undertaken by Mayor Evelio Leonardia and other local authorities to ensure the well-being of all the workers at Convergys' San Antonio Park Square facility," Zamora said.
On the other hand, Teleperformance also forged their support to the city government. Levi Trio, Public Information Officer of Teleperformance, said they reassuring the Negrenses that they will continue to operate in Bacolod but expect to continue to grow by creating even more jobs to cater the unemployed kababayans and upcoming graduates.
"We're currently looking for hundreds of call center agents to handle support for our customer service and technical support programs in Bacolod," Trio said. He further said that they will continue to explore additional regions of the Philippines for their future expansion as a result of growing business demands and the success we've achieved in cities such as Bacolod, not for any other reason.
He further stressed that they are appreciative of the efforts of Mayor Leonardia and Police Chief Supt. Leo Erwin Agpangan in implementing the overnight commuter security for their employees. Meanwhile, Petierre said that the recent crimes involving call center agents at night are isolated cases.
