Bing denies influence in Ceneco election
BACOLOD CITY -- Mayor Evelio Leonardia vehemently denied that he intervened in the just concluded election of Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) after most of the winning candidates for Board of Directors are his allies.
Leonardia said the people have spoken because most of them believe that it is now time that the New Government Center (NGC) should avail of electricity coming from Ceneco.
He added that the recent election results only show that the vast majority are not contented with Ceneco's denial of the city's application for electrical connection for NGC.
Leonardia recalled that when he run for re-election in 2007, he promoted the establishment of the New Government Center which led the Bacolodnons to vote for him and his political allies.
He also cited that some other cities like Tagum City will put up a New City Hall worth P405 million, much higher compared to the NGC with only P394 million.
Leonardia also said the NGC was already audited by the Commission on Audit but his opponent requested for a special audit because of politics. "We are very confident that everything will be cleared," Leonardia added.
He also expressed that with Ceneco having its new directors there will be policy changes which could eventually benefit the consumers.
