Only two investors interested in Northbound terminal
BACOLOD CITY -- Only two investors signified their intention to build the northbound terminal in Bacolod City after the city opened its doors to private entity or individual to operate the terminal under the build-operate-maintain scheme few months ago.
Councilor Wilson ‘Jun’ Gamboa Jr., chairman of the Committee on Transportation and Traffic Management, said the investors are still the same as he announced a month ago. These are Vallacar Transit represented by Roy Yanson, and the Amity Group represented by Crispin Chua.
“Both Vallacar and Amity have already submitted their project plan and site proposal to the city, and if there are no other interested operators maybe the city will decide then,” he added.
He will consult Mayor Evelio Leonardia on what to do after they set the deadline of accepting proposals from prospective investors for the construction of the new Bacolod City Northbound Terminal.
“March 15, 2009 is the extended deadline already but we will see after a meeting with the mayor,” Gamboa said.
Vallacar Transit according to Gamboa promised to build the best and the biggest terminal in the country and they will operate their own terminal separate from the common terminal which is being opened by the city to probable investors.
The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod passed an ordinance amending certain sections of City Ordinance 461, Series of 2008, or an ordinance providing for the establishment of the new northbound terminal of Bacolod City.
The site is located 100 meters away from the junction of the Banago Road, based on the recommendation of the City Engineer’s Office and the City Legal Office, so as not to add to the traffic congestion especially along the intersection at Bangga Pepsi.
They hope to enter into a memorandum of agreement with the probable investor by this month to immediately start with the construction of the project, he said.
The city is very hopeful that the north terminal can operate by October because the mayor wants it opened in time for the MassKara festival.
