Roxas City campaigns for support to March 28 ‘Earth Hour’
ROXAS CITY – The Roxas City government will join millions of communities around the world in the observance of “Earth Hour” on March 28 in support to the global action against climate change.
“The city government wants that there must be a personal effort from the residents to voluntarily turn off their lights during the “Earth Hour” that’s why we will plan an effective strategy to disseminate the campaign,” said Roxas City Administrator Rey Cordenillo.
“Earth Hour” on March 28 at 8:30 in the evening is a major call for every individual, government and business to take action and ensure a sustainable future.
An “Earth Hour” countdowns and live concerts as well as entertainment events will be held in key cities and provinces from 7 o’clock to 10 o’clock in the evening of March 28 as part of the nationwide activities for the upcoming event.
In a Civil Service Commission announcement, all public servants are also enjoined to actively participate in the event through the switching off of corporate signages, lights at the headquarters or offices, organization of a campaign in the community or locality to widen the reach of the campaign, use of compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) from incandescent bulbs, and promotion of the “Earth Hour” in company websites, community newsletters and blogs, among others.
