TOPS Antique holds 7th awarding ceremony
SAN JOSE, Antique – The Outstanding Pupils and Students of Antique, Inc. (TOPS Antique) held its seventh awarding at the Sibalom covered court last February 27, 2009 in a fitting ceremony that was hosted by the Municipality of Sibalom and Sibalom Elementary School.
The secondary level awardees were: Art John I. Agapito (Laua-an National High School); Garner Algo L. Alolod (Northern Antique Vocational School); Abigaile N. Eco (Antique National School); Nicci Rosietess E. Madarcos (Libertad National Vocational School); Karen Joy L. Mansuelo (Libertad National Vocational School); Joyce Ann B. Padulla (Belison National School); Kim Rommel E. Panaguiton (St. Anthony’s College High School); Leny Jane V. Pe (St. Joseph Academy High School); Kimberly Rose C. Pedrosa (Belison National School) and John Ric B. Siladan (Antique Vocational School).
The Elementary Level Awardees were Christian Rey Y. Amar (Tibiao Central School); Marycon Anne C. Boston (Valderrama Central Elementary School); Isabella Joy S. Dava (St. Joseph Academy Grade School); Arian Claudine F. Esmenos (Sibalom Elementary School); Nozel Christy A. Fabila (Sibalom Elementary School); Gliceria M. Hervias (Antique SPED Center); Shaira Lou O. Mabaquaio (Guintas Elementary School); Christyn Jezza S. Quanico (Antique SPED Center); Vonn Vincent V. Tanchuan (Buhang Elementary School) and Anne Therese E. Yee (St. Anthony’s College Grade School).
The awards give due recognition to the pupils and students of Antique who, by their exemplary achievements, serve as models and sources of pride and inspiration for the Antiqueño youth. They are conferred annually to not more than 10 graduating elementary pupils and 10 graduating secondary students of the public and private schools. The awardees for each level are chosen based on the following criteria: Interview (25%); written examination (25%); academic performance (20%); leadership and community service (20%) and special achievements (10%).
TOPS Antique was organized in 2002 by the Ten Outstanding Pupils of the Division of Antique for 1969 who now compose its Board of Trustees with Dr. Egidio Elio as its chairman. Driven by its motto “To lead and serve,” it has become a commitment to lead the people of Antique in the pursuit of the common good and serve them well with dignity and honor.
On February 28, 2003, TOPS Antique went back to where its roots started in 1969 - at the present Delegate Angel Salazar Jr. Memorial School - and held the first awarding ceremony. Now, on its seventh year, it has 140 members and 10 trustees.
This year, the honorary title of “Dungganon nga Antiqueño” was conferred on Dr. Edsel Moscoso for distinguished achievements in the arts in the field of painting. The award recognizes the outstanding achievements of individuals particularly those that have touched the lives of the Antiqueños through their leadership and service and for excellence in their field of endeavor that has become a source of pride for the Antiqueños as a people.
