OPA's missing car returned today
BACOLOD CITY – The Isuzu Fuego vehicle of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA), which was reported missing a month ago, will finally be turned over to the provincial government today.
In an exclusive interview with The News Today (TNT) Bacolod, Reynante Piodena, manager of Northern Travellers Motors which is the supplier of the vehicle, said that there was a delay in the delivery of said vehicle because they still had it overhauled at a shop in San Carlos City because of some problems.
“It is not true that I carnapped it or sold it to anybody,” Piodena said.
Recently, Engr. Igmedio Tabianan, head of OPA, said he decided to report to the Police Station 2 the missing vehicle after the contact number given to him could no longer be reached and the vehicle could no longer be found.
It was on record in Police Station 2 on February 23, 2009.
Piodena justified that he spent most of his time looking for cheaper spare parts because the problem of the vehicle is in its ‘turbo’.
Documents from the Bids and Awards Committtee revealed that Northern Travellers Motors is the sole bidder of a second hand Isuzu Fuego with a price of P550,000.00.
It has six-month warranty after the delivery of the item.
Piodena said prior to the procurement of the vehicle, OPA already used the vehicle as early as October for their guest while the purchase transaction was finalized only in November, and he got the check on December of 2008.
Tabianan believed that there was something wrong with the way the vehicle was brought for repair because they were not informed about neither they were appraised of the status of the vehicle.
“We might file carnapping against Piodena,” Tabianan said.
Governor Isidro Zayco instructed the Provincial Legal Office to investigate and file necessary charges against Piodena if there is failure on his part to return the government vehicle.
Northern Travellers Motors is located at barangay Mandalagan, along Lacson Street and has been doing business in buying and selling used cars for many years already.
