Search on for Iloilo City’s ‘Model Mother’
The Iloilo City Task Force on Street Children (ICTFSC) is spearheading the search for the city’s model mother, dubbed as "Bulawanon nga Nanay", as part of its advocacy to showcase that poverty is never a hindrance to success.
The activity is also in preparation for the Mother’s Day celebration slated second Sunday of May.
The contest aims to increase the awareness of mothers on responsible parenting and discover best practices that can be replicated by other parents in rearing their family.
The search is open to mothers who are bonafide residents of Iloilo City whose monthly family income is lower than P10,000.
At least 60 percent of their children must be in school and are enrolled in appropriate grade level and their average grade will be 80 percent or above.
Nominees must also be of good moral standing in their barangay.
They will be judged according to their parenting capability, 70 percent; community involvement, 20 percent and interview, 10 percent.
Two semi-finalists from each of the city’s seven districts will be chosen from the nominees that the task force screening committee. Top three winners will be chosen as winners.
The “Bulawanon nga Nanay" awardee will receive P10,000; first runner-up will get P7,500 and the 2nd runner-up P5,000.
The semi-finalists will receive P2,500 each as consolation prize.
