Felix warns cops vs. illegal drug use
BACOLOD CITY -- Senior Supt. Manuel Felix, Negros Occidental Provincial Police (NOPPO) director, warned policemen who are found positive for using illegal drugs will not only face dismissal from the service but will also be accordingly charged in court.
Felix, who conducted the surprise drug testing in Silay PNP with the supervision PNP Crime Laboratory headed by Supt. Lazaro Sumague, said the entire police force of Silay City tested negative. But one of three traffic enforcers under its supervision tested positive for prohibited drug use.
The name of said traffic enforcer is disclosed and is now subject for appropriate action from the local government unit concerned.
Recently, Silay City public officials led by Mayor Jose Montelibano, Vice Mayor Mark Golez underwent drug testing and were found to be negative. Likewise with the traffic enforcers, 67 policemen headed by Supt. Jerry Bartolome and even PSSupt. Felix submitted themselves for drug testing and all had negative results.
Felix said more surprise drug testing will be conducted among policemen in Negros Occidental, in an effort to get rid of drug users among its ranks.
