NOPPO on heightened alert this Holy Week
BACOLOD CITY -- The Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (Noppo) is now on heightened alert status in line with the Holy Week celebration. Noppo director Senior Supt. Manuel Felix has instructed all police units, including the Mobile Groups to do their part in maintaining peace and order.
Felix said they identified thickly populated areas in the province like beaches, resorts, churches and even malls for maximum deployment if possible.
He also instructed the entire police force to maintain police visibility and set-up police assistance centers in case of incidents and emergency.
“I pray for a more peaceful Holy Week as we give each other a chance to reflect,” Felix said.
Meanwhile, Felix warned all public employees to be careful in using government vehicles these holidays.
The Ombudsman's Oplan Red Plate, where his office is a deputized member, conducted an operation Saturday led by Chief Insp. Rico Santotome and caught 30 government vehicles parked outside the malls, beerhouses and grocery stores in downtown Bacolod.
The data of the vehicles have been recorded in the report for appropriate action of the Ombudsman.
Also present during the operation were the representatives from Commission on Audit, Civil Service Commission, Bacolod City Police Office and Philippine Information Agency.
