Model, pal arrested in Boracay
Police on Tuesday arrested a male commercial model and a companion on Boracay Island for allegedly manhandling a security guard and taking the guard's hand gun.
Model Andrew Wolff and his companion Oleg Galido were detained at the Boracay Special Tourist Police Office (BSTPO) facing a robbery complaint, Supt. Arnold Ardiente, chief of the Boracay Special Tourist Police Office, said in a telephone interview.
Ardiente said the two were arrested around 3 a.m. after allegedly creating a scene and taking a .38 revolver of Rodolfo Norbe, a security guard at the D' Mall commercial complex.
Citing a report of the BSTPO, Ardiente said Norbe had earlier admonished Galido at the popular Hey Jude bar for repeatedly shouting and calling out for Wolff.
Norbe had told Galido, a staff of the Hey Jude bar, that he was disturbing guests and other tourists.
Wolff later arrived and went inside the bar with Galido. But the two later came out and accosted Norbe.
Wolff allegedly grabbed Norbe's necktie and slapped it against the security guard's face. The model later took the gun of Norbe while he was being held by Galido.
Another security guard who was unarmed tried to help Norbe but they were overpowered by the taller and heavier built Wolff and Galido.
After taking the guard's gun, Wolff and Galido went inside the kitchen of the Hey Jude bar where they stayed until members of the BSTPO arrived as security guards were about to force the two to give back the firearm.
The policemen negotiated with bar's manager who convinced Wolff and Galido to turn over the gun to the policemen.
Ardiente said investigators had reported that Wolff and Galido were intoxicated when they were arrested.
The two were brought to provincial prosecutor's office in the capital town of Kalibo yesterday noon pending the filing of charges against them.
