P13.5-M KALAHI project launched
SAN JOSE, Antique –The remote barangays in the town of Culasi namely Barangays San Luis, San Vicente and Osorio are beneficiaries of P13.5 million KALAHI for Kalayaan Project of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP).
The infrastructure projects which includes school building, health center, access road and water supply project will be implemented by the 552nd ECB-53rd Engineering Brigade Philippine Army Lt. Col. Nestor Abando, Commander.
The KALAHI for Kalayaan Project is a collective undertaking of OPPAP National Government Agencies, Regional KApitbisig LAban sa KaHIrapan (KALAHI) Convergence Group, Antique Local Government Units and other concerned institutions.
During the launching of the project at Barangay San Luis, Culasi, Presidential Assistant for Region 6 Raul Banias, who led the guests together with Director Eileen Jose of OPPAP said that the concerned government agencies is fastracking the implementation of Kalayaan projects to make the people feel that the government is sincere in its commitment to the peace process and the people should take care of the projects and get involve in the decision making.
Director Eileen Jose in her message urged the beneficiary barangays to support the project and expressed her optimism that accelerated implementation of projects under the peace process will be undertaken in barangays identified as critical/conflict areas.
The men in uniform from the National Development Support Command-Col. Antonio Oliquino of the Philippine AirForce, Philippine Army-Maj Gen Vicente Porto, reiterated their commitment that the Armed Forces of the Philippines remained reliable and relevant partners in peace and development.
Governor Salvacion Z. Perez and Vice Governor Rhodora Cadiao likewise expressed their gratitude to concerned national government agencies for bringing the projects to the remote and upland barangays of Culasi that will not only change the face of the barangays but also help people fight poverty thru peaceful means.
Also present during the launching are Zenaida Mabugat and Ferdinand Gallo of OPARD, local officials, chiefs of offices from national agencies and provincial departments, Amazon Estolloso, Barangay Captain of San Luis and residents of the beneficiary barangays. (PS Mabaquiao/PIA)
