Ceneco union asks Mayor Bing to mediate between two erring parties
BACOLOD CITY -- The officials of the group called Ceneco Union of Rational Employees (CURE) appealed to Mayor Evelio ‘Bing’ Leonardia as the father of the city to act as mediator between two erring parties to settle their differences.
In a letter addressed to the mayor dated April 15, 2009, CURE said for the past days industrial peace have been repeatedly threatened because of the warring factions of the Board of Directors, one from Edward Gasambelo group and the other from Atty. Vicente Sabornay group, both claiming legitimacy in terms of their officership in the Ceneco Board.
There will be an annual assembly on April 18, 2009 at the West Negros University and they are worried about the peace and order during the said assembly.
“Because we know that both the warring groups will be fighting on who will preside the meeting,” their letter stated.
Worst scenario is if their supporters will irate each other then chaos and fighting will result that will bring to shame to the institution and the city itself, they said.
CURE and even the group of Atty. Sabornay asked the intervention of their regulatory agency, the National Electrification Administration (NEA) but until now there is no clear resolution about the problem.
New President Engr. Edward Gasambelo said that NEA had already passed the concerns to the Board and the agency advised to stick on their by-laws.
“We are working with the by-laws, reason why the consumers and the public has nothing to worry about,” he added.
The group also appeals to Mayor Leoanardia to request the group of Gasambelo to move the assembly to a later date to give the time to NEA to resolve the serious problem of leadership.
But Gasambelo said the scheduled date could not be anymore postponed because it was agreed and prepared few weeks ago.
Mayor Leonardia said he is willing to mediate as long as it is agreed by both parties that they need his intervention.
Officers of CURE who signed the letter are Ben Tundag – President, Malou Parroco – Vice-President, Mildred Valladolid – Secretary, Jimmy Calimba – Treasurer, Ronald Reosura – Auditor and Board of Directors – Steeve Osville Cañal, Rodmor dela Cruz and Dyman Gatuslao.
