NEA urged to resolve leadership crisis at Ceneco
BACOLOD CITY -- Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) Board of Director Roberto Montelibano yesterday said some officers of Ceneco Union of Rational Employees (CURE) want to delay their General Assembly scheduled on April 18, 2009 in order to create confusion on the leadership crisis issue.
Montelibano also blamed Engr. Erlo Sajo, former Ceneco General Manager, for giving instructions to employees although he was already removed from his post.
He also scored the National Electrication Administration (NEA) for not resolviing the issue of leadership crisis which makes Ceneco a divisive cooperative.
Montelibano also emphasized that the board meeting conducted where they were elected as new set of officers and Atty. Vicente Sabornay was ousted as president was valid and legal.
He said that there is no reason to postpone the Ceneco Annual General Assembly because it was already approved by the NEA and also the majority members of Ceneco Board.
On the other hand, Mayor Evelio Leonardia confirmed that he was asked last Wednesday by CURE officers to mediate on the existing internal conflict among Ceneco employees and officers. However, Montelibano objected the term "mediation" because there was no specific demand from the employees.
He is amenable that instead of "mediation" the proper and appropriate word that should be used is a mere meeting or conference with the Local Chief Executive. Montelibano had some apprehension that the Union wants to instigate their fellow employees because there was an instance that they passed a resolution urging the Board to approved P20,000 bonus for each employee.
"I think the union is trying to bribe the board," Montelibano added. He vowed that if some CURE officers want to insist with their demands, they will be subjected to appropriate charges.
