P70M new Ticud Bridge soon to rise
After a long wait, residents of the four barangays passing the Ticud Bridge in Lapaz district will soon have relief after President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo approved the P70 million funding for the construction of the 70-linear meter new Ticud Bridge.
The President approved the budget requirement for the construction of new Ticud Bridge in her recent meeting with Mayor Jerry Treñas. The construction of the new bridge will be implemented by the regional office of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Treñas said he will follow up the implementation of the bridge project with DPWH-6 regional director Rolando Asis. He will take efforts to ensure the early implementation of the project which could benefit the residents in four barangays, namely, Ticud, Ingore, San Isidro and Caingin.
The mayor has also requested before the public works department for the design of the bridge structure and its immediate implementation to ease the inconvenience of passers.
The old and dilapidated bridge will be replaced by a concrete bridge.
The residents have been asking the city government for a new bridge since the existing structure is already dilapited. It could only accommodate light vehicles such as tricycles.
Though, there is no definite time yet on the construction of the new bridge, the residents welcomed the effort of the chief executive in finding the budgetary requirement.
