PRO 6 conducts inspection of firearms
Police Regional Office (PRO) 6, Supply Office (R4) yesterday conducted an inspection of firearms issued to police officers all over the province of Iloilo.
The mandate came from the PNP National Headquarters which required the showing of firearms of all police officers.
Supply accountable officer Eduardo Rodrigo said the inspection was primarily done to update the record of the firearms in Region 6 and to verify the unit of firearms and their users. It was also done to monitor police officers who pawn their firearms and those who do not report on their precincts or incur absences without leave.
Each firearms were stenciled to determine their exact serial numbers and to reflect the names of their users.
Rodrigo added that if an officer failed to present his firearm, he is given at least one month to submit an affidavit of loss.
Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent Wesley A. Barayuga of R4 personally visited and supervised the inspection. The showdown covered the six police precincts in Iloilo City starting with Police Precinct 1.
Iloilo City was the second batch in the showdown inspection after Guimaras PNP. The inspection will resume this Friday in the province of Antique or in Roxas City, said Rodrigo.
