WV Cops take crash course on honor, gender sensitivity
Service with honor and while at it, gender-sensitive.
Such is the latest reminder to the region’s cops as the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO 6) conferred badges of honor and conducted gender-sensitivity training to police personnel here.
PRO 6 Regional Director Chief Superintendent Isagani Cuevas was most clear of his message and plea, “Wear your badge with honor!”
To note, said badges stand as the highest symbol and degree of integrity for the men and women of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
It even got spiritual boost as PRO6 Chaplain, Father Jason D Ortizo, blessed the PNP badges and the personnel wearing them.
The renewal of PNP personnel of their oath to their badges highlighted the activity at the PRO 6 headquarters in Camp Delgado here.
“You have been entrusted with the badge as a symbol of your worthiness as police officers, to serve and protect the people from whom you derived the power and authority, to enforce the laws of the land without fear or favor,” Cuevas said during the charging of the entrustees (PNP personnel).
He also reminded the PNP personnel of the virtues engraved inside the seal of their badges.
“The virtues of service, honor and justice must remind us always to render the highest form of public service of our fellowmen”, Chief Superintendent Cuevas said adding that “we are to serve the citizenry with the commitment of sacrifice and willingness to die in the service of God, country, and people.”
The conferment of the PNP Badge is part of the ongoing implementation of the ten- (10-) year Integrated Transformation Program.
Meantime, 50 police personnel of the Aklan Provincial Police Office became the latest batch of the region’s “gender-sensitive” cops.
This, as a two (2)-day Gender Sensitivity Training was conducted in Aklan with delegate-cops from different police stations in Aklan province.
“The training aims to increase the level of awareness of Police officers to be active in performing their duties and functions in order them to know the equal opportunity of men and women in the society. Consequently, PNP personnel will value the significance of sexual characteristics meant for every individual in the community,” a Pro 6 news release went. “Aklan police director Police Senior Superintendent Clarence V Guinto said through this undertaking, people will continue to support our advocacy and will help us realize our vision to a more capable, credible and effective as the pilot site of Model Police Provincial Office.”
