Searching for Earth's Pieces of Hope
1st Prize winner Roque John Latosa.
Throwing a candy wrapper to the proper trash can, turning lights off when not in use, planting trees, savoring the pleasure of walking for small distance appointments? These are earth's pieces of hope that humans need to assemble to save the looming change in the planet.
In pursuit to gather the lost pieces of hope, Eco Populi Incorporated, initiated a digital art competition and exhibition at Robinsons food court area last April 22. The event's endeavor is to awaken man if to what extent will he participate in destroying the earth.
With the theme Lupa, Tubig Buhayin; Batas ay Tuparin, the event wants to imbibe that man, as a vital piece of earth is the one who brings culprit by embracing the global economy. Taking the advantage of technology, the artwork uses various ways in manipulating the a digital work.
2nd Prize winner Joseph Benidicto.
The digital art competition includes a suggestive digital artwork on how to save the planet and its last remaining resources. It must have an explanation of what piece of hope it reflects that can lessen crisis of the earth.
The winners of the digital artwork were John Latosa and Joseph Benedicto, first and second place respectively.
Latosa submitted an entry entitled “The Missing Piece” where he compared the earth to a new born baby which is helpless and fragile. With lots of non-recyclable and inorganic waste, earth alone cannot maintain or restore itself. Man has the duty to complete the missing pieces, he must recycle, rehabilitate the forest and save the water resources to restore equilibrium.
