Good sanitation, healthy lifestyle important, says DOH
ROXAS CITY – The Department of Health (DOH) has advised Capiceños to observe basic sanitation practices and maintain a healthy lifestyle to have a strong protective defense against Influenza A (H1N1) or the swine flu virus.
Nevertheless, Dr. Leah L. Del Rosario, DOH Cluster I Representative in Capiz, gave out the assurance that the dreaded virus is not in any way or degree present in the province.
Capiz is swine flu-free and we want to remain that way, she said.
But as a precaution against the disease that now has spread to more than 30 countries and affected thousands of people, Del Rosario said during the orientation on emerging infectious diseases held May 13 here that Capiceños should know what swine flu is all about and how it can be avoided.
The orientation was organized by the provincial government to heighten pubic awareness and preparedness against swine flu.
Participants to the orientation composed of representatives from the health sector, concerned government agencies and media formulated a preparedness plan on Influenza A (H1N1).
Dr. Evelyn T. Bolido, Medical Specialist IV of the Provincial Health Office here, briefed the participants on basic prevention and control measures.
An integrated code alert system that contains generally accepted guidelines during emergencies and disasters and the barangay health emergency response system were also presented to the participants. (PIA)
