Mayor extends help to family of 2 minors burned to death
BACOLOD CITY -- The municipal government of Murcia through Mayor Esteban Coscuella already extended assistance to the family of two minors burned to death past midnight of May 16.
Coscuella said the Mayor’s Office gave burial assistance to victim’s family at the same time will reconstruct the burned house.
“I will give also medical assistance to the remaining two injured individuals,” he added.
Records from the Bureau of Fire Protection revealed that a fire incident in Barangay Canlandog in Murcia town claimed the lives of two minors and injuries to two others.
Angelyn, 5, and her brother Angelo, 3, all surnamed Esmelarin and residents of Purok Paho were burned beyond recognition after the house owned by Milagros Panes was razed by fire at around 12:30 in the morning last Saturday.
Police Chief Inspector Simeon Gane, chief of the local PNP, and Fire Offiecr 2 Sanerlo Legaspi said that Panes and Lorito Camus suffered first and second degree burns, respectively as a result of the conflagration.
They are now under treatment in one of the hospitals in Bacolod City.
The cause of fire was later determined by the BFP saying that it was coming from the kitchen. Damage was pegged at an estimated P50, 000.
The two victims were buried immediately after the incident happened.
Negros Occidental provincial director Police Senior Superintendent Manuel Felix directed the Murcia PNP to conduct further investigation and to provide assistance to the victim's kins in whatever possible means.
