Beup surfaces to deny hand in Cruz killing
ROXAS CITY – The municipal administrator of Sta. Barbara, Iloilo strongly denied allegations that he has something to do with the killing of Arthur Cruz, political officer of First District Cong. Antonio del Rosario.
“I want to inform the public that somebody is framing me up in the killing of Art Cruz for reasons I don’t known,” Glendofer “Glenn” Beup said in a radio interview last week.
Beup, who is an anchorman of “Pulso sg Banwa” aired at Alto cable television and has a block time program at both dyOW Bombo Radyo and RMN-dyVR, was linked to the Cruz killing after a lady witness disclosed that Beup was seen in the area where Cruz was shot to death last May 7 along Boulevard, this city.
Beup said he came out in the open to seek help from his colleagues in the media to clear his name because he is innocent of the crime.
He said that he is not hiding from the public adding that he only want to secure himself for he does not know who are his opponents.
Earlier, a lady witness together with her boyfriend revealed she heard the name of Glenn during the heated altercation between the suspects and Cruz over the share of several projects.
The witness also revealed that Cruz was shot by several suspects including a woman.
Beup was a hard hitting commentator of dyOW Bombo Radyo for several years and became station manager of dyIN Bombo Radyo in Kalibo, Aklan before he became Sta. Barbara administrator.
Beup said that he was at the house of his aunt during the incident but admitted he met with Cruz at the provincial capitol and gave the latter the amount of P1,000 before the incident.
Earlier, reward money for the killers of Art Cruz has increased to P300,000 after City Mayor Vicente Bermejo and Capiz Governor Victor Tanco Sr. offered additional P100,000 each for those who can give information on the identities of the suspects.
The first one to offer was Del Rosario who offered P100,000 as reward for the arrest of the killers of his trusted man.
