Capiz info officers group has new officers
ROXAS CITY – Engr. Julius Abela, Assistant Chief of the Planning and Design Section and In-Charge of Special Projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) First Engineering District here, is the new president of Capiz Association of Government Public Information Officers, Inc. (CAGPIO).
With Abela to steer the association through 2009-2010 are Mary Jane Amigo (Philhealth), vice president; Loida Lorenzo (BFAR), secretary; Annie Banico (DILG), assistant secretary; Ma. Gracia DC Balgos (BIR), treasurer; Edna Artates (NFA), auditor; Teddy Buenvenida (OPA), press relations officer; and, Dyland Moises (COMELEC) and Edward Basilonia (Capiz Provincial Press Bureau), business managers.
In the Board of Directors are Immediate Past President Carlette Pretta (DAR), hazel Duce (CAPSU), Juafe Abareles (DOST), Bienvenido Cortes (Office of the City Mayor), PO1 Abundio Denoya (PCG), Wilfredo Gallenero (Parole and Probation Administration), and SPO4 Augusto Sevilla (Maritime Police).
The induction of new CAGPIO officers was held May 22 at a local hotel.
Capiz Gov. Victor Tanco, who was the Inducting Officer and guest of honor, commended the information officers regarding their important role as communicators of government and what it is doing for the welfare of the people.
Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Regional Director Atty. Ma. Janet C. Mesa exhorted their agency’s partners coming from other national government agencies and local government units to sustain their organization and its activities.
The new CAGPIO president cited the importance of the association staying together as a partnership that was built to carry out public information activities in support to development.
Also present was Marlou Beatizula, regional coordinator of the Association of Construction and Informal Workers (ACIW) of the Philippines, which is supporting the government’s Comprehensive Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (CLEEP).
CAGPIO is part of an information network organized by PIA nationwide to help the government in institutionalizing and sustaining public information as a support component of national development. (PIA-JSC)
