Cano Tan donates 3 computer units to BCC Student Leaders
BACOLOD CITY -- Bacolodnon Ricardo "Cano" Tan, LTO-NCR Director, has donated three computer units to the Bacolod City College Supreme Student Government (SSG) leaders last week.
These student leaders had their Leadership Training and Seminar at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Mansilingan, Bacolod City which from May 30 to 31.
Director Tan was their guest speaker.
He saw the need to donate these computers as one time, a BCC student approached him if he could donate even a single unit of computer to BCC as they still lack computers in their Computer Laboratory.
Cano Tan never hesitated to approve the request.
He has been known as a donor of computers to several schools in Bacolod City and even pioneered the establishment of the first Computer Laboratory at Taytung High School soon after his eldest son Ryan Rupert died in 1987.
He donated P300,000 to Tay Tung High School, in previous years, for the said Computer Laboratory.
It is a fulfillment on his part to provide these computers to students who really deserve it.
Tan wants the students to be more educated with the aid of the computers.
Erwin D. Junsan, BCC-SSG President extended their heartfelt appreciation to Director Tan for these computers.
"It will be a big help for all of us. It will surely help us improve our work efficiency in school and at the same time, it will be a big savings for all of us because we don't need to go to Computer cafes to make our reports and other school assignments," Junsan said.
Tan also shared with them his wide range of experience in public service.
Tan stressed the value of "Leadership by Example."
"If one wants to lead, he should first learn how to follow for there can never be an effective leader if he will not allow himself to be a loyal follower. We have so many leaders who can inspire us. But you can be a leader in your own way. Leadership is not about glamour. Its about motivating others to make a coherent act for the common good," he said.
