DOLE to award livelihood checks worth P9.46M
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 6 will award 24 checks worth P9.46 million to some 2,463 beneficiaries of twenty-four livelihood projects under the Capacity-Building Program for Livelihood Formation and Livelihood Restoration during the 111th Independence Day Celebration on June 12 at Amigo Plaza Mall.
DOLE 6 Regional Director Aida M. Estabillo said the funds will enable the unemployed and rank-and-file workers to engage in enterprise undertaking that would augment their incomes.
Among these funded projects are Photocopying Services of the Western Institute of Technology Teaching and Non-Teaching Employees Association (WITTNTEA) and Swine Raising, Duck Raising, Food and Fish Vending, among others, of the informal sector workers, sugar workers and farmers.
Meanwhile, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) 6 will also award 50 checks worth P2.5 million to fifty returning overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) under the Filipino Expatriates Livelihood Support Fund (FELSF) intended for OFWs affected by the global economic slowdown.
The fund will be used by the beneficiaries in setting up their livelihood projects such as Palay Trading, Bakery, Transportation Services and Hog Raising, among others, aimed at generating employment and income for their dependents.
