Treñas into self-quarantine
City Mayor Jerry Treñas observes a 7 to 10-day self-quarantine in his home after he traveled in the United States of America for the Gawad Kalinga Global Summit 2009.
Treñas joined the Philippine delegation led by Vice President Noli de Castro in the GK summit held in Harvard University in Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts on June 12-16.
Treñas opted for a self-quarantine in his own home rather than in the quarantine center at a private room at the Western Visayas Medical Center as he manifested no symptoms of A(H1N1).
He said he only heeded to the orders of the Department of Health to observe quarantine procedures after traveling in places where there are cases of A(H1N1).
The mayor upon his arrival in the city last week only spent less time in his office and avoided crowded places. He signed papers which needed immediate attention and went home.
Treñas designated Vice Mayor Jed Mabilog as the OIC mayor of the city while he is into self-quarantine. Mabilog assumes as the city mayor until the 7 to 10 days quarantine lapse.
The chief executive was not around in yesterday’s commemoration of Typhoon Frank at the Jaro gymnasium.
