Mother delivers baby girl on board police car
BACOLOD CITY – A bouncing baby girl was successfully delivered by 22-year old pregnant woman while on-board a police patrol vehicle on St. John the Baptist day.
The female passenger identified as Rena Diones of Barangay Linawon in Cauayan was on her way to Bacolod City via Ceres Liner.
The driver of the bus stopped along the national highway and sought the help of the policemen after seeing the police patrol car.
The policemen from nearby Ilog Police Station were on their way to Cauayan town DSWD purportedly to turn over a 60-year old male victim earlier rescued from a fishpond in Barangay 1 in Ilog.
Diones was immediately transferred to the patrol vehicle of Ilog PNP with Police Inspector Antonio Talatala, chief of police, directing the driver to proceed to the nearest hospital as the former was about to deliver her baby.
However, before reaching the Isio District Hospital in Cauayan, Diones delivered a healthy baby girl with policemen assisting in the successful delivery.
Senior Police Officer 1 Regie Pigar, a registered nurse before he entered the PNP, led the successful delivery of Diones.
Inspector Talatala praised his men for their timely action and response particularly Pigar who showed calmness and professionalism in the midst of a life-threatening emergency.
Negros Occidental PNP director Police Senior Superintendent Manuel Felix lauded the Ilog PNP personnel under Talatala's command for their heroic acts and timely action in an emergency case.
Diones was very thankful to the Ilog policemen for their assistance after she arrived at the hospital safely.
