PRO 6 cops under orders to back DOH on anti-A(H1N1) drive
The men and women of Police Regional Office 6 (PRO 6) are under orders to back Health department officials and the local community against spread of Influenza A(H1N1).
This, as the entire PNP hierarchy here in Western Visayas has been told to be ready in supporting the Department of Health (DOH). Particular reference was made on DOH’s conduct of quarantine activities on suspected and confirmed A(H1N1) cases.
In a news release sent by PRO 6 Information Officer, Superintendent Ranulfo Demiar, the extent of PRO 6 help was established alongside corresponding response readied here.
Reports stated that PRO6 director, Police Chief Superintendent Isagani R. Cuevas said “additional police personnel may be detailed to airports and seaports if DOH so desires in its conduct of quarantine to persons entering the region.”
“We have already personnel assigned at airports and seaports for the purpose. And we can still add the number, if necessary,” Cuevas said while adding that the PNP “is in the support role, while the DOH is the lead agency against this growing concern on A(H1N1) virus.”
Further still, Cuevas said now is particularly the time for police personnel to take “extra precautions on their hygiene.”
“We also remind our police personnel to observe the standard operating procedures (SOPs) once they are confined in hospitals. They have to inform their chiefs of police immediately upon confinement and that our Regional Health Service be informed to assist and make follow-up of their status,” Cuevas said.
