'Special session illegal,' Dadivas says as he vows to seek Court's action
ROXAS City – City Vice Mayor Ronnie Dadivas said that the special session held by members of the city council yesterday was illegal and vowed to contest it in court to nullify the proceedings.
“I think the session is illegal since the regular session is scheduled every Thursday and not Monday,” Dadivas told The News Today (TNT).
According to Dadivas, holding of the special session will constitute a violation of internal rules which specifically provides that the regular session shall be held every Thursday at 2:30 p.m. He also pointed out that there was no further manifestation during the previous session that the resumption will be scheduled yesterday.
Dadivas, who received letter request from City Mayor Vicente Bermejo to conduct special session, replied to the mayor that the special session could also not be held since there was no adjournment but only suspension during the last session.
On their part, majority of the city councilors sent notice for resumption of session to Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) secretary to conduct a special session yesterday as requested by Bermejo.
Tackled during the resumption of session were several application for subdivisions, right-of-way deed of donation, annual budget of Mongpong Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) in the amount of P4,688,995.18 supplemental budget.
