Monico-Novero formalize partnership for 2010 polls
BACOLOD CITY -- Two political forces who vied for the congressional post last 2007 election have formally merged into one last Saturday.
Bacolod Lone District Representative Monico Puentevella who toppled down former Vice Mayor Renecito Novero by a slim margin last 2007 election bind themselves into one as they launched their group called "MONO for 2010" or Monico for Mayor and Novero for Congressman.
Former Bacolod Mayor and MONO Team Organizer Luzviminda "Joy" Valdez said that the launching of "MONO" Team is a partnership between Congressman Puentevella and Atty. Novero who are both celebrating their birthday this month. Monico celebrated his birthday last July 2 while Novero to will celebrate his birthday next Saturday, July 18, 2009.
"This is just a celebration of two birthdays and we chose a middle ground, July 11 to get all our barangay leaders to be with them," Valdez said during the launching of the tandem last Saturday.
She admitted that the gathering has a semblance of political gathering as it was full of cheers and enthusiasm from the crowd especially that the coming election is just around the corner.
Valdez likewise said that gatherings of political leaders is just like a thanksgiving and a fellowship wilth all barangay leaders.
"The partnership of Monico and Novero had been established a month ago where Atty. Novero will run for Congressman and Monico running for Mayor," Valdez added.
She also said that this is just a partnership and there will be a formal launching to happen when this two will file their certificates of candidacy for 2010 election.
On the other hand, Atty. Novero admitted his intention for running again in 2010 under the "MONO Team". He said that the fellowship is somewhat a reunion of his political leaders all over the city as both of them celebrate their birthday this month of July.
Meanwhile, Congressman Puentevella thanked his supporters for attending the celebration and likewise the support he enjoyed for almost nine years as Lone District Representative of Bacolod City.
Puentevella said that although Novero was his political opponent last election, it is not time to forget the past and put the interest of the city on top of all.
Puentevella said that as much as possible he would like to avoid animosity and conflicts with anybody. "We would like to look forward for a political season that the level of campaign is much higher than before and it dwell more on projects and performance and what candidates would bring for Bacolod," Puentevella added.
