Dev’t projects get P57M
ROXAS CITY – The city government of Roxas has earmarked P57 million for various development projects this year. The amount represents the city’s 20% development fund from its Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) Fund.
City Mayor Vicente Bermejo said that of the amount, P32, 300,000.00 will go to general public services, P19, 000,000.00 to social services, and P5, 700,000.00 to economic services.
The development fund was approved by the City Development Council chaired by the city chief executive during its recent meeting here.
The development package gives priority to roads, drainage and lights improvement (P12 million), city assistance to barangays, people’s organizations, non-government organizations, private sectors and cooperatives (P13 million), and urban poor amelioration program (P12 million).
Under its poor amelioration program, the city government would acquire and develop a resettlement area for squatter families who now include more than 13,000 individuals.
Bermejo said the development package is part of his governance agenda to push economic progress and improve the lives of the people through enhanced service delivery and other support mechanisms. (PIA)
