Blue Jay Coffee & Deli recently unveiled their latest branch at the Amigo Shopping Mall of the popular Amigo Terrace Hotel in downtown Iloilo where one can buy imported wines, biscuits, meats, and food condiments. At the same time, the first ever wine club in the city was launched - Sommelier Wine Club. Sommelier means technically a restaurant staff who specializes in wine, a wine waiter who advices the diner as to what wine would best suit the diner’s taste and also as to what would go well with the food . This first wine club is Iloilo City’s venue for wine lovers and connoisseurs who want to taste the notes of outstanding wines from around the world.
Guests were feted to a cocktail party were they sampled the myriad array of hors d’ oeuvres of which all ingredients are available at Blue Jay’s delicatessen counter in all their branches. Cheeses, sausages and cold cuts of different kinds are readily available for customer’s convenience. Spanish wines of different varieties were served to the pleasure of the discriminating wine aficionados.
Come July 24, Friday Sommelier Wine Club will hold its initial quarterly wine tasting, with 50 Sommelier Wine Club card holders expected to attend. The guest speaker will be wine expert Joe Meneses of Titania Wine Cellar who will speak about proper etiquette, food pairing and fine wine appreciation.
