How Pres. Nixon saved Jewish state from annihilation
In 1973, Israel was in the brink of annihilation as 12 Arab nations had lined up their tanks, armored carriers and troops along the vast dessert against the ill-equipped Jewish army. According to Bill Mckay, author of the book “Against All Odds”, Israel lady Prime Minister Godda Meir wrote in her diary about committing suicide because of the hopeless situation then and the clock was ticking against the Jewish people. Meir's cabinet members were set to go on exile. At 3:00 a.m. Godda Meir telephoned Pres. Richard Nixon and related the precarious situation of Israel and the defeat is a matter of time. Earlier, Meir asked the help of then Secretary of State Henry Kissenger but of no avail. Kissenger was an Australian Jew. It was the darkest day of Pres. Nixon as he was intrigued by the Watergate snafu and Congress had advised him not to enter into an adventure with foreign policy.
As Pres. Nixon talked with Prime Minister Meir, he remembered what his loving mother told him when he was still a kid listening to teachings in the Bible given by her almost every evening. “Richard, someday if you are in the position to help Israel, do it.” His mother was a Christian teacher. It was a prophetic word Nixon's mother gave him. After his conversation with the Israelite Prime Minister, Nixon realized that he became U.S. President because God put him there.
Meanwhile, at the Israel-Arab battlefront more than 600 Syrian tanks lined up and thousands of heavily armed troops of the other five nations were ready to strike. Nixon signed his “death warrant” according to the testimony of Bill McKay when he prepared a presidential order sending planes, Sherman tanks, weapon carriers, ammunition, etc. and within 24 hours the much needed weapons were in the hands of Israel's army. God's miraculous intervention was seen during the impending battle. As Israel tanks moved on in the evening, a tank crew commander lifted out of his tank and ordered his men to take out their knives and started digging the ground behind their tank and they extracted a landmine. Seconds thereafter, a strong gusty winds engulfed the vast dessert field for 36 seconds. When the moon appeared after the strong wind stopped thousands of landmines were seen all over the place. Again the unseen hand of God helped the Israel tanks passed through the mine field safely.
When the fiercest encounter started, Israel's bombers and fighter planes including the U.S. Sherman tanks annihilated the 6-nation Arab armies. The Israel's ground troops advanced against all odds and drove the retreating armies of Jordan, Egypt, Kuwait, Iraq, Iran and Syria armies to their homeland defeated and carrying their dead comrades. Hundreds of the enemies tanks, artilleries, weapon carriers, planes, etc. laid frustrate in the vast dessert of the battlefield. Thus for the third time since Israel gained her independence from the British in 1948, three wars with the Arab world were won. God Almighty told Abraham in Genesis 12:3, “I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Fellow believers, we may not be like Pres. Nixon of the U.S. who had all the resources at his command to defeat Israel's foes, but we can cry out to God in prayer, day, noon and evening, to spare the Holy Nation Israel and the chosen people from being attacked by the Satanic forces in the Arab world. The nation of Iran has threatened Israel to wipe out God's chosen nation from the map. It is feared that Israel might be the first one to bomb Iran's nuclear facilities. Let's pray that God will intervene and peace will reign in the Middle East.
